Certified organic sesame plantations have only been established a good ten years ago on a broader scale in Paraguay. The climatic conditions, especially in the Chaco, are perfect for growing sesame plants. The high variety conformity, most importantly of the variety ESCOBA, leads to a constant bright colour and a sweet taste of this South American sesame breed.

During the harvest there is only very little employment of machines, in order to secure employment possibilities for the indigenous peoples, the Guarani. In close cooperation with the local certification body we are working towards an ECO-SOCIAL certification, making sure that the social aspects of the Paraguayan organic sesame cultivation are considered.
